It’s time to look at the betting lines for the National Football League – Week 1. It’s always tough to bet on the NFL during the opening week of the season, due to all the unknowns with the teams. Let’s take a look at a couple games that I like for Week 1:

iumeiuk8qfd3ssjobqdrBrady Returns for New England

The Thursday night game of the week features the Pittsburgh Steelers at the New England Patriots. With the news of Tom Brady playing; the New England Patriots have moved back to -7 for this one. Pittsburgh is without their top running back Le’Veon Bell, and the Steelers defense has been shaky all preseason. I liked this line better when it was at -6 or -6.5, but I still feel the New England Patriots are going to cover this spread with a win. Brady will have lots to prove and the Patriots cover -7 spread on Thursday night.

NFC North Battle

The Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears is a battle of the NFC North to start the season. The Packers are going to be one of the best teams in the league, and the Bears could be one of the worst. But, I like the Bears to cover this spread. Look for John Fox to have a solid game plan, which includes giving Matt Forte the ball early and often. I am betting the Chicago Bears +7.5 over the Green Bay Packers.

NFC West Tilt

The Seattle Seahawks start the season at the St. Louis Rams. Despite Pete Carroll’s success, he has had some difficulties with the Rams in the past few seasons. The Seahawks now have Jimmy Graham to throw to, which is a huge weapon. St. Louis has a new quarterback, and he is going to want to please the hometown fans. I like the home team to pull through in this one. I am betting the St. Louis Rams +4.5 in this one on Sunday afternoon.

Battle of Top Picks

In the battle of the top two picks in the 2015 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans will play at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I like for both of these teams to be improved from a season ago. The key here is which team will turn the ball over less. Look for Marcus Mariota to have a tough time with Lovie Smith’s Tampa Bay defense. Jameis Winston takes care of the ball and picks up a win in his NFL opener. I am betting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers -3 over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

Sunday Night Action

In the Sunday Night Football game of the week; the New York Giants are at the Dallas Cowboys. Eli Manning against Tony Romo is certainly something we have seen before. While we are a few days away from this game, will the Cowboys activated their new running back Christine Michael? That will help in their run attack. Look for the Cowboys defense to exploit Eli Manning, which will lead to early frustration. I like the Dallas Cowboys -6 over the New York Giants Sunday night.
