Every single year we seem to hear the same old story from 11-time Pro Bowler Brett Favre as the debates whether or not he wants to return for one more season or will finally retire from the game that he loves.
There is no question that Brett Favre loves the game of football and shows that love and passion while playing the game, but people have grown tired of his charade during the offseason as the Minnesota Vikings and his fans no longer want to play the waiting game would rather just get an answer.

Fortunately, the Minnesota Vikings brass helped get this decision sooner rather than later as they decided to send three of Brett Favre’s closest friends on the team to his home in Mississippi in an effort to persuade him to comeback or at least give the team a decision so they can move forward with backup quarterback Tavaris Jackson as their leader under center.
So with this decision to get an answer as soon as possible, the Vikings sent Ryan Longwell (kicker),
Jared Allen (defensive end) and Steve Hutchinson (guard) to Hattiesburg, Mississippi to basically recruit the three-time NFL MVP and convince him that the entire team wants him back and a Super Bowl could quite possibly be on the horizon.
Reportedly, the three Minnesota Vikings players went to Brett Favre’s house in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, stayed the night and were able to get the job done as they convinced the Silver Fox to fly to Minnesota the next morning.
Needless to say, this is a huge sigh of relief for the Minnesota Vikings as the return of Brett Favre basically gives the team a lot of hope for competing for a Super Bowl title this season.
Even though the Vikings were able to convince their future Hall of Fame gunslinger to come back for at least one more season, whether or not he’s fit to play still remains to be seen as biggest concern this offseason was his surgically repaired ankle that wasn’t healing as quickly as anticipated.

As of right now, Brett Favre seems to be doing well with his surgically repaired ankle, but he will get his first real test on his bum wheel against the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints in the season opener on September 9th.
In the meantime, Brett Favre will make his season debut against the San Francisco 49ers in the Minnesota Vikings second preseason game where he is set to play a few series in the first quarter.
During this preseason game, against the same team that Brett Favre beat with a last second touchdown pass last season, the Minnesota Vikings should get a good feel for the health of their starting quarterback and how well Favre can play on that ankle.
Personally, I believe he will be just fine as he has made a career out of playing this game banged up and fighting through injuries, but he is 40 years old now and his body can no longer recover the way it used to and that might be key to his final season in the NFL.
