Coming into Week 7, the Denver Broncos had won just one game all season long and were fresh off their bye week. Not only were the Broncos in desperate need of a win to get back on track this season, but this Week 7 matchup against the lowly Miami Dolphins would be the first game in which second-year quarterback and Florida football legend Tim Tebow would start for new head coach John Fox.

After a thrilling finish to the Week 5 loss against the division rival San Diego Chargers, most people were sold on the fact that Tim Tebow gives the Denver Broncos the best chance to win every single week. Despite this being the case, Tebow’s style of game of is much different than the Broncos are used to and forced the team to make some changes by trading away elite wide receiver Brandon Lloyd to the St. Louis Rams during the bye week.
Along with Tim Tebow getting his first start for the Denver Broncos in Week 7, the former Florida Gator and Heisman trophy winner was set to be honored in Miami for the Gators’ BCS championship in 2008. Needless to say, the stage was set for Tebow to have a breakout performance and for the for the Broncos new starter to prove that he deserves the job.
Unfortunately, the first three quarters of play were extremely hard to watch with Tim Tebow looking lost and miss his receivers almost every single time he dropped back in the pocket. Despite letting arguably the worst team in the league get the best of them, the Broncos and Tebow were able to turn things around in the fourth quarter with the up-and-coming quarterback leading the team to 18 fourth quarter points and a win.
Once the final whistle blew, Tim Tebow had led the Denver Broncos to their second victory of the season and finished with 161 passing yards, 65 rushing yards and two passing touchdowns. Not a bad start, but he was awful in the passing game in the first three quarters by completing just 13 of 27 passes.
Regardless of his somewhat poor performance, Tim Tebow has the confidence of his head coach as John Fox believes that his new starting quarterbacks will only get better in the coming weeks. Even though Fox is probably right about Tebow only improving from here on out, the two-time BCS champion will have this work cut out for him in Week 8 against a very good Detroit Lions team that has lost two straight.

With the Detroit Lions losing two straight games to the San Francisco 49ers and the Atlanta Falcons, the Denver Broncos will have their hands full against a very hungry Lions squad led by Matthew Stafford. The Detroit gunslinger did get a bit banged up against Atlanta in Week 7, but I’ll be he will be good to go for Week 8 against Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos.
