If
any team in the NFL exemplifies the old maxim that good defense and a
solid running attack wins games, it's this years Titans. Of course,
they really don't have much other choice in the matter. Tennessee is
marginally better at throwing the football than the San Francisco
49ers but that's not saying much. You can look at the top 40
receivers in the game and check against receptions, yardage and
touchdowns; you will not find a single receiver from the Titans on
the list. Tennessee has 15 touchdowns this year which in itself is
puzzling for a team that is 6-2 but what's more difficult to believe
is that only 3 of them have gone to Titans receivers.
Titans
running back LenDale White has the most touchdowns (5) of any player
on the Tennessee offense, and with only 2 rushing TD's quarterback
Vince Young has visited the end zone more than any other player on
the team other than White. Starting to wonder where Tennessee is
finding enough points to stay only one game behind a Colts team that
would shock the nation if they didn't get a bye week in the playoffs?
Well let me enlighten you – his name is Rob Bironas. With 20
successful field goals the Titan's kicker has scored more points than
any other kicker in the league.
Jacksonville
has an inexperienced quarterback in Quinn Gray who probably won't be
putting on a large scale air assault against Tennessee's stingy pass
defense, and although Jaguars running backs Fred Taylor and Maurice
Jones-Drew have both gained decent yardage this year they only have 4
touchdowns between them. At home the Jaguars might have more of an
edge; on the road they will probably fall to the Titans.
