The NFC
The National Football Conference, NFC, is the other conference that makes up the two conferences NFL. They were founded the same year that the AFC was, in 1970, due to the merger between the AFL and the NFL; once they merged they split into two conferences to make things easier and more organized. The latest team to join the NFC conference was the Carolina Panthers in 1995. The NFC is the official rival of the AFC, but within each there are other rivalries. The NFC has 16 teams total in the conference, and those teams are split into 4 groups; into their respective divisions, north, south, east, and west.
NFC Divisions
NFC North
The NFC North is comprised of four teams, the Chicago Bears, the Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, and the Minnesota Vikings. In this division there are two teams that have had a great NFL history. The Bears have been able to win the Super Bowl once, and the Packers winning it twice.
NFC South
The NFC South division is made up of the Atlanta Falcons, the Carolina Panthers, the New Orleans Saints, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Buccaneers and the Saints have been able to win the Super Bowl one time each; 2002 and 2009 respectively.
NFC East
The NFC East is comprised of the Dallas Cowboys, the New York Giants, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Washington Redskins. The winner of the 2012 Super Bowl XLVI, the Giants, is in this division; defeating the New England Patriots 21 – 17.
NFC West
The NFC West has teams like the Arizona Cardinals, the San Francisco 49ers, the Seattle Seahawks, and the St. Luis Rams. The 49ers certainly have the most Super Bowl wins at 5, but the most memorable season was when the Rams managed to win the Super Bowl in 1999, since they were the clear underdogs.
Three NFC Favorites
The three NFC teams that are favored to win the 2013 Super Bowl XLVII are the Green Bay Packers, San Francisco 49ers, and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Green Bay Packers
The Packers have been doing much better ever since they signed their star quarterback Aaron Rodgers to the roster. His arm is already becoming legendary, as he is considered one of the best quarterback of the NFL right now. Their team rankings are:

The Packers have been showing a lot of promise on the offensive side, although they do lack stronger rushing. Their defense is also relying on their offense to win games, although with the upcoming season starting, they may have been able to sort out the defensive issues. The Packers are being given the best odds of winning the 2013 Super Bowl XLVII, with odds of 6/1.
San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers have been around for a long time, and in the past they were strong contenders for winning Super Bowls; however time has shown that their overall team play was gone down. Currently however, they are being praised for their improvements. They are ranked:

The 49ers are ranked first when it comes to stopping rushing plays, which is very important when they face off against teams that rely mostly on their rushing to win games. Their starting QB, Alex Smith is still fresh off the bench, with little playing time and experience. Their defense is stacked with DB C.J. Spillman with his multiple tackles, and LB Aldon Smith and his high sack average. Their defense may become the best offense. The 49ers are given 10/1 odds of winning the 2013 Super Bowl.
Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles have always been an above average team, as they have good rankings both in offense and defense:

The only thing about above average teams is that they usually cannot beat the really good teams, which is what wins playoff games, and the Super Bowl. Their starting QB, Michael Vick, is a very mobile quarterback. He is not as accurate as a quarterback should be, but he does a good job running the ball; along with RB Dion Lewis. The Eagles are given 12/1 odds of winning the 2013 Super Bowl.

Three NFC Underdogs
The underdog NFC teams are the Minnesota Vikings, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Washington Redskins.
Minnesota Vikings
Even though the Vikings have two QB’s, Donnovan McNabb and Christian Ponder, they still lack a strong passing presence. Their ranks are:

What the Vikings lack in passing, they make up for it with rushing. Using players like Running Backs, Adrian Peterson and Caleb King, and their backup quarterback Joe Webb also does a great job at rushing the ball. The reason they have such low odds of winning the Super Bowl is because they lack a strong offense, and do not have a good defense either. Their odds of winning the Super Bowl are 150/1.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The problem with the Buccaneers is that their quarterbacks are not accurate and lack the experience to lead the team. Their quarterbacks are Josh Freeman and Josh Johnson. The overall stats of both the defensive and the offensive lines are way below average. This team needs to rethink their gameplay strategies or trade for some more experienced players if they hope to win. Their odds of winning the 2013 Super Bowl are 75/1.
Washington Redskins
The NFC teams actually have more teams that are in the middle to high tier, proving that the NFC teams should be able to dominate the AFC.

The Redskins are in this middle tier, as they are about as average a team can get. Their rankings prove that they have potential, but they are still struggling to get to where they want to be. They do have Rex Grossman, but this QB isn’t doing so well either. What else can you expect from an average team other than an average performance? Their odds to win the Super Bowl are just how their performance is, average, at 60/1 odds.
