Football Betting Predictions; Playoffs and Super Bowl

NFL Playoffs and Super Bowl

These are the most exciting times during the NFL season to be a sports fan and a bettor. These are the most intense times for the NFL teams, as they have to win every single game during the playoffs or they are out. Every team that makes it to the playoffs has one thing on their mind, getting to the Super Bowl and winning that ring; fame and fortune are also found after winning the Super Bowl. This is the breakdown of which teams are most likely to clinch the playoffs and make it to the Super Bowl, along with which team would actually be able to win the Super Bowl. Remember, these are predictions, and should not be taken as fact, but they are based on accurate information that makes them viable predictions for what could happen during the playoffs and the Super Bowl.

Playoffs – AFC Championship

The predicted winner of the AFC Championship is the New England Patriots, but closely behind are the Houston Texans. The Patriots have had great seasons in the past; keeping up their offensive skills, while trying to improve their defense. They have won 3 Super Bowls in 2002, 2004, and 2005, and have made it to the NFL finals two times after that, making them excellent contender to not only to win the AFC Championship, but to also win the Super Bowl. The breakdown of their current stats is:

The reason they have such great odds of winning the AFC Championship is thanks to their offensive lineup. They have an amazing QB, Tom Brady that has both, playoff and Super Bowl experience. Tom Brady likes to use his entire team potential when making passes. He uses WR Julian Edelman, RB Danny Woodhead, and even TE Rob Gronkowski as potential receivers, which is what makes him a lethal QB; he uses any and all options when passing.

The Patriots rushing isn’t that great, but they do have some potential players that will be bringing those rankings up. Running backs, Shane Vereen and Stevan Ridley have been proving that even the Patriots can have a good rushing team. Their defense does lack more organization, and better pass defenders.

The Patriots have 3/1 odds of winning the AFC Championship; while the next closest team, the Houston Texans, have odds of 11/2.

Playoffs – NFC Championship

The NFC Championship is a much closer competition, and the possible winner is between the Green Bay Packers and the San Francisco 49ers. The reason behind this close matchup is thanks to their polar opposite playing strengths. The Packers are better offensively, while the 49ers have a better defensive line. However, as only one team can actually win the NFC Championship, it would have to be the Green Bay Packers, since my philosophy is that even though a team has a good defense, they cannot win with just that. The Packers were also able to defeat the Steelers in the 2011 Super Bowl XLV.

The Packers had an amazing last season, and are set to outmatch every other NFC team to win the NFC Championship. Their amazing offensive effort is thanks to their Quarterback Aaron Rodgers. He has been a key player in getting the Packers higher in the ranks, as well as getting them wins. Rodgers couldn’t do it alone though. He works with some great Wide Receivers, like Randall Cobb, Dale Moss, and Jarrett Boykin. The Packers have also been trying to improve their rushing with Running Backs Marc Tyler and James Starks. Their defense still needs a lot of work, as they are ranked last for passing yards against them; meaning they lack good passing defenders.

The Green Bay Packers are given odds of 7/2 to win the NFC Championship, but are followed closely behind by the 49ers with 11/2 odds.

Super Bowl Matchup

As the super Bowl is played between the AFC and NFC champions, then it is only obvious that the New England Patriots and the Green Bay Packers will be competing for the Super Bowl Championship. This matchup will certainly be between the offensive lines of each team, as both teams have subpar defense.

New England Patriots vs. Green Bay Packers

This match is predicted to have a high score count, as both offenses will be casually running up the field. The deciding factor in this game is in fact the defense. How well one team’s defense does at stopping the other team’s plays will be paramount, since the Packers have poor passing defense, and the Patriots are not as good at stopping the running plays.

In the end, I predict that the Green Bay Packers will come out on top. As the Packers are given odds of 6/1, while the Patriots are given 13/2 odds; these odds are off by a hair which is what will make this match so competitive.
